Hotel Continental is on Canal Grande in Lista di Spagna, just before the beginning of Strada Nova, one of the city's main pedestrian streets and unquestionably the most picturesque stroll which runs between the train station and leads to Rialto.
There are many shops along the way for shopping fans, numerous "bacari" (traditional Venetian snack bars) and a colorful neighborhood market near Ponte delle Guglie.
The hotel is also just steps from the train station and Piazzale Roma. To get to the most famous sights such as Rialto or San Marco, just follow the route which passes in front of the hotel or take a vaporetto from the Ferrovia stop located a few minutes from the Continental.
Public transportation leaves from here and runs along all of the wonderful Canal Grande stopping near the most important monuments and museums, including Ca' Vendramin Calergi, home to Venice's Casino, Ca' D'Oro, a splendid example of 15th century architecture, the Gallerie dell'Accademia, the most important gallery in Venice and among the most important in the world, the Collezione Peggy Gugghenheim, an excellent collection of contemporary American art and then head for the Giardini, the exposition site of Biennale di Venezia and Lido, the city's beach where the Mostra Internazionale del Cinema is held each year.
For those who wish to grant themselves all comforts, the hotel has a landing on Canal Grande, where it is possible to take a water taxi. |
